Sexual Assault Response Committee

SARC is a multi-disciplinary community of practice for sexual assault service providers. SARC is co-chaired by Victim Services and includes representatives from:

  • Whitehorse General Hospital
  • Yukon physicians
  • Kwanlin Dun Health Centre
  • RCMP
  • Public Prosecution Service of Canada
  • Government of Yukon, Health and Social Services (Family and Children’s Services, Community Nursing, Alcohol and Drug Services)
  • Government of Yukon, Women’s Directorate
  • Yukon Women’s Transition Homes (Kaushee’s Place)

SARC's objectives are to:

  • Examine and promote a comprehensive, integrated standard of care for victims of sexual assault that incorporates policy development, protocols, standards and best practices.
  • Support existing front line responders and work to facilitate the development of front line Sexual Assault Response Teams throughout the Yukon.
  • Identify and address emerging concerns, service gaps and institutional deficiencies in response to victims of sexualized violence.
  • Coordinate, collect and analyze qualitative and quantitative sexual assault related data.
