Volunteering

The Whitehorse Correctional Centre is always looking for individuals who are interested in providing a positive influence on inmates.

We have almost 80 volunteers who work at the Correctional Centre to provide Alcoholics Anonymous, cultural and spiritual support to inmates.

In particular, we are looking for people who are interested in providing First Nations Programming to individuals involved in the correctional system.

We are seeking individuals interested in sharing their expertise in:

  • Traditional teachings
  • First Nations spirituality
  • Crafts and art
  • Ceremonies
  • Other First Nations programming

If you have an idea or skill you think could bring a positive impact on the rehabilitation and reintegration of offenders we would love to hear from you!

Volunteers and contractors must undergo a security check before starting at the Correctional Centre. Volunteers are expected to follow all of the rules and security protocols at the Correctional Centre. Compensation may be available for services (especially First Nations Programming).
