Department of Justice

Correctional Services provides supervision, programs and services to offenders. Our primary goal is the safe integration of offenders into communities as law-abiding citizens.

Whitehorse Correctional Centre

Whitehorse Correctional Centre is a multi-level correctional facility for adults serving sentences of two years less a day.

Community Supervision

Offender Supervision and Services provides supervision and support to all individuals on probation, bail, or serving conditional sentences in the community.

Justice Wellness Centre

The Justice Wellness Centre provides offenders with “wrap-around” services and support that reduces their risk of re-offending.

Community Justice

Community and restorative justice contributes to the protection of society, the health of communities and the healing of victims and offenders by bringing together the community, victims and offenders to find solutions.

FASD Study: Prevalence in Corrections

In partnership with the Child & Family Research Institute at BC Children’s Hospital and the University of British Columbia (UBC), the Department of Justice has completed data collection for a study evaluating the prevalence of fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD) in individuals who are incarcerated or on probation in Yukon.

Offender Programming and Case Management

Yukon Corrections balances public safety with a goal of offender rehabilitation, healing and reintegration.

Getting Involved

From a rewarding career, to volunteering, to participating in a correctional board or advisory committee there are many opportunities to contribute to the rehabilitation and reintegration of offenders.

A sentence is the court ordered consequence for being convicted of a crime. When an offender is found guilty of a crime a Judge decides what their sentence should be. Sentences may include fines, community supervision or time in prison.

Complaints and Investigations - Investigations and Standards Office

The Investigations and Standards Office provides independent oversight of the corrections system by investigating inmate and probation client complaints, reviewing inmate discipline, and by conducting investigations and inspections as required.
