Territorial Police Service Agreement and Policing Priorities The Territorial Police Services Agreement is an agreement between Yukon and Canada that allows the RCMP to provide police services to Yukon. Under this agreement the Minister of Justice is able to establish policing priorities for the RCMP.
Yukon Police Council The Yukon Police Council ensures that citizens have input into policing in the Yukon, provides advice to the Minister of Justice and the RCMP and increases the flow of information between citizens, the Department of Justice and the RCMP.
Sharing Common Ground/ Review of Yukon’s Police Force In 2010, the Department of Justice, Council of Yukon First Nations and RCMP undertook a review of policing in Yukon. Sharing Common Ground is the final report that came of the review. Sharing Common Ground made 33 recommendations for improving policing and outlined a new relationship between Yukoners and the RCMP.
