What are the Minister of Justice Community Safety Awards?

The Minister of Justice Community Safety Award is an award program that recognizes the contributions of Yukoners who promote community safety. Community Safety is a shared responsibility of government and non-government agencies, police, citizens and the community. Improving community safety involves everyone (professionals and community members) working together to create safe environments to live, work and play.

Individuals, RCMP members, youth, community groups and programs are all eligible  to be nominated in a number of award categories.

Why were the Awards created?

The creation of the Community Safety Award stems from the Sharing Common Ground  report, which highlighted a need to recognize the contributions of Yukoners who promote community safety.
